The objective of the project is to provide employment to underprivileged youth by providing them occupational training with the purpose of transforming their lives by “creating deep demonstrable impact.”
Sawhney Foundation in collaboration with NIIT Foundation in undertaking community development activities by implementing various programs in the area of education, training & skill building for under- served population of India.
A Hybrid model comprising career-oriented and non-career courses has been designed. Career oriented courses skill personnel by making them employable. Job fairs are conducted where employers select perspective candidates for jobs. It is proposed to train approximately 1500 young boys and girls over a period of two years.
Non-career courses aim at promoting digital and financial literacy among youth and community at large. English speaking courses are crafted to make youth fluent in speaking the language.
Restrictions during prevalence of Covid 19 restrictions, online classes were conducted. This has developed capability to conduct both on-line and of-line skill development classes.
Career courses are being offered in the following vocations: –
- Career Edge IT Professional proficient in data entry.
- BPO processes.
- Customer relationship management.
- Retail and Inventory management.
- Logistic & Supply Chain management.
- General Duty Assistant in medical.
- Spoken English & personality development.
- Basic IT.
- Digital & financial literacy.
- Community connect is proposed in the form of adopting an area an make them financial and digital aware. This will main-stream them to take the digital connect and aware of online financial frauds.
Sawhney Foundation has provided modern infrastructure comprising computer laboratories, digital class rooms and laboratories.
Trained instructors and necessary courseware are provided by NIIT Foundation. All training is carried out using digital training aids. Progress of trainees is monitored and graded periodically.
Digital records of training conducted and trainee performance are maintained.
Mobilisation of candidates is carried through awareness drives and word of mouth. Selected candidates are put through career counselling and screened for aptitude. Selected candidates are formed in batches for skill training.
Besides class room training, visits and on job training is imparted as per requirements and as stipulated by the NSDC norms.
Personality development and conversation techniques are an essential part of all course. A considerable effort is devoted to personality development.
During the course of training visits and on job exposures prepare candidates for jobs.
Various employers are contacted much in advance of date of completion of skilling of the batch. Job fairs are organised to help the candidates get offers.
