The world is not the same for all human beings. There are some whose basic needs are taken care of and there are others who are at the margins, deprived, at times neglected and left-behind. Thankfully, there are some who believe that it’s their calling to help those left-behind to live a life of dignity. They exert selflessly to create an environment where living a better life becomes easier. This belief that is the underpinning of Sawhney Foundation.
Ashok Sawhney & Family, who believe in giving while living, donated land measuring approximately 4000 square yards and invested their own wealth to create a facility for the neglected and abandoned senior citizens by providing them a home and care in a quiet, calm, pollution free peaceful, environment. Over the years Suman Sawhney Health Care Centre and a Multi-Skill Training Centre have been added.
Sawhney Foundation is a social initiative to empower youth, provide affordable healthcare and wellness to the left-behind and make available dignified living for the uncared elderly in a welcoming and sensitive
environment.
The Foundation endeavours are: –
Vridhashram is a home for abandoned senior citizens. Besides catering for free amenities like boarding, lodging, medical care, premium is placed on providing a decent, dignified life among similarly placed seniors in friendly environment. It currently houses over 60 seniors.
Suman Sawhney Healthcare Centre provides free OPD for all and free diagnostic investigations for those below the poverty line. Since its inception on October 2, 2022 till Mar 31, 2023 the Centre has provided OPD Services with free medicines to over 5000 patients.
Empowering Youth in association with NIIT Foundation an NSDC affiliated partners by providing state of the art facilities and a learning friendly environment to conduct National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) aligned courses to make them employable. Over 150 youngsters have been placed in jobs in eight different vocations. In addition, 313 girls and boys have been exposed to digital and financial
literacy, English speaking and Basic IT as part community outreach initiative.
Sawhney Foundation is a Charitable Trust registered under the Indian Trust Act, 1882 read with Indian Registration Act, 1908. It is a Not-for-Profit Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) registered with the NGO Partnership system of Niti Aayog, Govt. of India. Donations to Sawhney Foundation are exempt from Income Tax under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act.
